FAQ

Q.What do I need to be aware of if I'm planning on using music (tracks or sound sources) in my film?

A.If you use music in your film, you (the contest participant) must have the rights to that music. Otherwise, unless you are using the music used in the performance video sample entry on the main page of our special contest website, you are responsible for securing a license from the copyright holder for any and all lyrics, tracks, sound sources, and the like. Copyright law does have some exceptions where licensing is not required for music use, but it is the responsibility of the contest participant to determine whether or not these exceptions apply.

Note that YouTube and niconico video have blanket policies with organizations like JASRAC and NexTone on the use of managed music, but if videos posted on YouTube or niconico are used on other sites via embedding or tagging, they are no longer covered by the blanket policy. Note also that our special contest website has no blanket contract or agreement of any kind with JASRAC or NexTone.

Therefore, if you are going to upload your video directly onto our special contest website (or even if you are going to post the URL on the official site linking to a video uploaded on YouTube or niconico), you must personally hold the rights to the music you use. Otherwise, unless you are using the music used in the performance video sample entry on the main page of our special contest website, you are responsible for receiving permission from the copyright holder for any and all lyrics, tracks, sound sources, and the like in your video.

Q.Do I need a license if I want to use copyrighted material other than music (tracks or sounds sources) in my film?

A.If you use material that another person holds the copyright to in your film, copyright law generally requires that you secure a license from the copyright holder. The law also has some exceptions where licensing is not required for use, but it is the responsibility of the contest participant to determine whether or not these exceptions apply.

Q.Can I submit a video that I've made in the past?

A.Yes. However, please do not submit videos that have won awards in other video contests or pieces that have been submitted to contests currently in progress.

Q.When will the contest results be announced?

A.Only those who submitted winning entries will be notified of the contest results. We will send this information via email to the address you entered on your submission form. It will be sent from hurehure@lab-kadokawa.com. Make sure your email program is set up to receive emails from this address. Note: The results of the contest will not be announced to anyone besides the contest winners.

A.Contest participants may not make changes to their own entries. If you need to make changes, resubmit your information using a new video submission form.

Q.I submitted a video, but it's not showing up on your site.

It may take several days for your video to appear on one of these channels. Note that any entries known to be in violation of the terms of service or other regulations will not be accepted.
